Blue Light Studio
When I was young having a full-blown recording studio in the basement was a ridiculous idea. At the time the equipment cost more than the average person made in several years.
That has all changed with the advent of the computer and associated hardware. You can now buy everything you need to put together a multitrack digital-audio studio for less than a month's wages.
The digital nature of the the studio makes it possible to do things that were very difficult or impossible to do with older equipment. For example, you can 'cut and paste' sounds just like using a word processor or you can pitch-shift a sound.
I use the studio primarily for recording new songs that I write and for recording my band, Fifth Business. Occasionally, I will have another band or solo artist in for a couple of sessions.
